Rescuing the Reluctant

Remember learning to swim and the water safety classes in the school swimming pool?  We were taught to save a drowning person, who resisted rescue, by “approaching the person from behind.”  If you approached from the front you risked being grabbed and both being pulled down.  Panic and fear could paralyze the persons ability to think and act wisely.

When two angels sent by God to rescue Lot and his family, from the impending destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, they found resistance.

When we reflect on our own journey of faith in Christ, we can see God’s faithfulness in overcoming our reluctance and resistance.

When we encounter people lashing out in spiritual desperation and fear, may we be reminded of our own journeys and have the wisdom to show god’s love to them…… to every person who is reluctant to be rescued by Him.
