When Nancy arrived home late on the day of the Christchurch earthquake in February 2011, she was gently whisked away by her parent in law. At their home, she sat with tearless eyes watching the frantic efforts at the site of the collapsed CTV Building……knowing her husband Paul worked there.
Married for 35 years their friendship had really began to blossom again so the pain of separation cut deep.
Yet she never once asked, “Why?” Somehow, from the moment Paul did not arrive home at the usual time, she felt an inexplicable “peace that surpasses all understanding”.
Where was God that day? S he believes God was walking alongside her, and in the months of grieving that followed, crying and weeping with her. She believed that He could bring good out of even the deepest pain.
Now her life has taken on new meaning. Once, she looked forward to “retirement and “taking things easy”, but now wants to live more adventurously in the company of her loving God. Her hope is now inspiring others.
