Mary and the women visited Jesus’ burial site not expecting the reception they got at the tomb. The stone has been rolled away and an angel (messengers of good news) bids them to look inside and then go and tell the disciples.
No wonder they felt a sense of awe and fear.
Nearly 2,000 years later, we who are Jesus’ followers also have mixed emotions about sharing such good news.
We feel great joy that Jesus is alive, but also feel uneasy telling others about him. But our fear is different.
We don’t fear in awe and reverence of the greatest miracle possible. We fear what people might think of us when we tell them Jesus is risen indeed. But like Mary and the other women, we have a responsibility to tell others the Good News.
Ask, and God will give you the courage to overcome any fear and share the joy we ourselves have found.
